YSL - Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Saint Laurent was a French fashion designer who founded his eponymous fashion label in 1961. He was widely regarded as one of the most influential designers of the 20th century and was responsible for popularizing trends such as the tuxedo for women and the smoking jacket for men. Throughout his career, Saint Laurent designed a range of iconic bags, clothing and jewellery pieces that are still highly sought-after today. The most famous of these is the ‘Muse’ bag, which was first introduced in 2001 and has since been reimagined in a variety of different materials and colours. Other popular Saint Laurent bags include the ‘Betty’ bag and the ‘Lily’ bag. In addition to his work in fashion, Saint Laurent also had a successful career in film and photography. He directed several films, including ‘L'Amour fou’ and ‘Les Deux amis’, and his photographic work was exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Saint Laurent died in 2008, but his legacy continues to live on through his fashion label, which is now helmed by creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
